In cases where fluid replacement is required (e.g. due to dehydration, blood loss, or anaesthesia), or certain medication has to be delivered, an intravenous (IV) catheter and fluid pump will be used to introduce fluids into your pet’s bloodstream. These patients will need to be hospitalised and monitored whilst receiving their treatment.
If your pet needs to be hospitalised, you will receive instructions from the veterinary team regarding the duration of the stay, visiting hours and home care upon discharge. You will also be briefed about any procedures or treatment administered during the stay and the subsequent costs involved.
Your pet will be housed in their own cage or pen during hospitalisation. During the stay, pet owners will receive updates from the veterinary team at least once a day, and more often if required, depending on the pet’s condition. Food and water is provided during their stay. Please do not hesitate to raise any special dietary requirements or concerns with the veterinary team during admission, or contact the clinic during operating hours.
